I recently had some time to kill in Greensboro, NC while waiting for a delayed flight to arrive. My daughter and I wandered around downtown Greensboro, and I took these shots of the Greensboro Cultural Center. To see the same place with brilliant blue skies you can visit Greensboro Daily Photo Cloudless Sky at the Cultural Arts Center post which is by another North Carolina blogger and was a SkyWatch Friday entry in April.
I was very intrigued by the whimsical building (shown below) which houses the Greensboro Children's Museum. This part of downtown Greensboro, NC reminds me of downtown Raleigh, NC which is my city. Not so much the architecture but the way both North Carolina cities have a thriving art's area, complete with a Children's museum as well as a place where artist work and show their work.

I would not be surprised to hear the growing art district. With all the academe around, I'm sure there's a lot of interest in arts.
We were talking about NC over dinner last night with friends who have relatives living there. Someone even suggested we move there, since it's the happening place :)
Thanks for discovering my post before I even entered the link. Yeah, I do a lot of my meme at www.ewok1993.wordpress.com
That looks like a really great place. I like the bottom two pictures best because the building are very interesting. I think art is very important so this is right up my alley.
I think it is a great idea to incorporate art in different areas. I love the last photo, I could see a face smiling.
Ooops, that was me. Did not mean to hit enter right away!

Definitely looks like a fun place to look around and spend some time!
What a cool looking kids museum. That's where I'd want to be.
I like those triangular roofs and what a whimsical museum entrance
Carver: Very nice post with the photos of your neat houses.
BTW: Please remember to put your country on with your name. FG/MW Team
The picture makes me want to go inside!
The children's museum building is wonderful! I agree - how wonderful to have a thriving arts area to encourage play and creativity and give artists a place to show their work.
Janice.
If the exhibits inside the Childrens Museum are as interesting as the exterior, it must be quite a hit.
Those are really interesting pictures, this place is cool! Good for us that you made such good use of your spare time waiting for the flight!
God bless you!
Cezar
What a fun place! Looks great.
Look like a great place to visit. The childrens museum looks like a lot of fun. The arts are *hot* and good for you!
Looks like a nice place to relax.
Hey this looks like a fun place! Great shots with your ever sharp-eyed camera :)
Definitely a great place to visit. I enjoyed your photos.
Those are excellent cityscapes! And perhaps the best way to get the kids interested.
I want to be there too! Those green roofs look like they are in some dream land.
Some interesting shots.
What cool structures - yeah, I guess art should be housed in an artistic buildings. It's great to see art districts popping up all over the country - it's the one thing that gives a place a sense of community. Great post.
Fascinating buildings! I am especially impressed with the idea of a children's museum!
great pics- i had to go far back to catch up
Thanks Carver for the link to GDP and the info about the google search. City daily photo sites are making an impact on what is available to the world. We're up to over 1,000 CDP sites now!
Re: your post today-- You have done some fine photo work of Greensboro's cultural arts region on this blog layout. Our little cultural zone in Greensboro is so full of color Happy "That's My World." We didn't sign on today and views are DOWN!
Great shots! Very interesting buildings. Good choice for a post!
so much roofs =) the other one looks like a fun shop for kids
that's a great way to kill time, snapping photos around =)
Now I remember this post about the green triangles. Thanks for the explanation.
