Lake Johnson Park consists of a 150+ acre lake and 300+ acres of land surrounding the lake. It is one of many parks with lakes in the triangle area of North Carolina where I live.
Bill and I went there for a walk a few weekends ago and although everything was still very green, some early signs of fall color were starting to pop up in the leaves.
The waterfront program center offers a variety of classes and a large deck for hanging out and looking at the lake. I like the lighting fixtures on the deck and thought perhaps the way they are angled down keeps them from interfering with the look of the lake at night.
When we walked across the bridge, there was a man walking with the largest bass I've ever seen. It really was enormous but I was to shy to ask if I could take a picture of it. I guess that's a case of the fish photograph that got away.
I'm not too shy to photograph the geese. That's a lot more my style. It amused me that there were so many geese hanging out at the picnic table area. I guess they were hoping for some leftovers or maybe it was a geese convention.

What a lovely park and your photos are outstanding. BTW, I think it was a geese convention.
Do they still do the Lakeside Jazz series there during the summer? I haven't been in a while, but I used to love going for that. Nice shooting!
A marvelous park! Wonderful shots! Feel like I've been there! Have to agree with Jan, looks like a goose convention!
Have a great week, Carver!

What a wonderful park! Love the leaves!
Looks like a great place to spend some time. (That wasn't a fish story was it?)
Wonderful! Must be pleasant to walk here and easy to enjoy every minute :)
This park is free for everyone to walk? Would spend many time there. Nice pictures, like the B&W fountain also.
I love these shots. You have quite an eye.
the geese i think have a hankering for some french fries. i know it's not right, but sometimes i feed the birds that come begging some fries and they seem to really really enjoy it.
have a wonderful week.
Too bad you didn't get to photograph the large bass...it would've nice to see it here too.
That is a lovely park to visit, I too like the shapes of the lamps.
Thanks for sharing, enjoy your week.

You weren't kidding about the geese convention ... wow! Looks like a lovely spot for people and for birds.
Nice to have parks in the area. Looks like a duck-goose reunion.

Beautiful park and shots, Carver. Loved seeing the geese!
That is a huge number of geese - you think they're getting ready to fly south or did they fly here from the north? Serene spot and lovely photos.
