Monochrome weekly: Itsy bitsy bit of snow before Christmas

Photobucket

Our little snow Friday didn't amount to much before turning to rain but the snow flakes were enormous. If anyone has tips for catching good shots of big fat snowflakes please let me know. The shape fell apart in this shot but it was better than others I tried.

For other participants, please visit the home of Monochrome Weekly.

I wish I knew how to keep snow, let alone photograph it. (I can see little dots and one feather sized flake!).

We had snow yesterday for five minutes.

Other parts of England have several inches and are wishing they didn't. We had several flakes and wish they hadn't melted. Can't win!

You might try a macro lens and get really close. A bit of a crap shoot when you only have a few flakes passing by your lens though.

Wow, those ARE huge. Thankfully I don't live where I get to practice taking pictures of snowflakes, so I'm no help :).

God bless you!

I imagine it quite like droplets on a spiders web? This is a real cozy setting here. I like it.I caught an image while on a visit to Reno before I had a digital(was my first snow fall)..hey, I wasn't trying either, ha. Last night it rained with thunder and lightening! Today is rained out too. Anyway, hope you do enjoy your day-

We don't get much snow in Sydney so my advice is useless to you. I can certainly see that large flake on the right hand side.

Hey I see the snow!!

Pardon me for being so excited... I don't see snow in my part of the world ;)

Lovely shot, our snow has melted but it will return. I have been trying to capture the flakes including awarewriter's suggestion of the macro lens with no luck so far. I need more snow to practice with, but then it can go away.

I can sometimes photo snowflakes, sometimes not - it must be a matter of luck. It is snowing here right now.

Looks like the northern part of town got more snow than we did in the west end.

I'd love to help you out on the technique, but I live in the same place you do, so you know how much practice I get!
