They have model ships in the information center for the USS NC Memorial battleship. It was interesting seeing what the ships looked like starting with the very first ones. I didn't note any information on this one specifically.

That's My World: Memorial Day at USS NC memorial

Since today is Memorial Day in the United States, Bill and I went to Wilmington, NC which is about 2 hours from where we live, and visited the USS NC Memorial, (you can click that link for more information). I took a bunch of shots on the ship but I figured this would do for now, since I just got home. The first shot is of the guns at the top of the pic pointing at the signal flags and sky. I hope everyone had a great weekend and Happy Memorial Day!

That's My World Tuesday: Seasonal walks at the Lake

I know I've done other my world posts with the greenway trails and lake near my house. I've also done other my world posts with the seasons.
Therefore, I guess this may be somewhat redundant but I thought I'd use photographs I haven't posted to take you on a walk through the seasons.
The first photograph was taken a few weeks ago at Shelley Lake (central NC where I live). The second one was taken at the same place in January. The shot below was taken at the same place in November.
My final shot was taken on one of the wooded trails following the creek away from the lake. I shot this one in early summer of 2008. I enjoy the dirt trails away from the main traffic the most.

SkyWatch: Bird caught by accident

The bird in the lower right part of the shot was caught by my camera accidentally. I liked that. For skies around the world, please visit the home of SkyWatch Friday.

By the way, he did survive the dive. Below is the bird a few minutes later.

That's My World Tuesday: Linville Falls, NC (October 2008)
I took this shot in Linville Falls, NC last fall. Linville Falls is in the NC mountains and is about 3 hour's by car from where I live. Living in the central part of the state it's an easy drive to the mountains in the western part of the state, or to the beach on the eastern part of the state.

That's My World Tuesday: Melanoma Monday
Since I am writing this post on Melanoma Monday which is always the first Monday in May (an event to raise awareness about this cancer), I thought I'd use a photograph I took last year on the way into my dermatologist's office. Going to a dermatologist four times a year is part of my world, as well as being followed by an oncologist for stage III melanoma. Anyone interested in learning more can go to my other blog and read my 2008 melanoma monday post. I did one on that blog for 2009 but the 2008 one is more thorough.

About Me
- Carver
- My original site, Carver's Sight or is that Site, was inspired by reading the blogs of people who I got to know through the Melanoma Patient's Information Page (MPIP). As time has gone on, I find myself talking as much about gardening, photography, and other random thoughts as I do about melanoma follow up. I am happy about that. I have set up an additional site, Carver Cards, which is primarily a photoblog.
