Lake Lynn is a few miles from my house and Bill and I went for a walk there on Saturday. All the photos in this post are from that walk.
Since Shelley Lake is in my neighborhood and some of the trails are within walking distance of my house, that's where I usually walk.
I like to go to Lake Lynn too since there are some differences between the two lakes and Lake Lynn is only a few miles away.
In the spring I usually spot a lot more turtles at Lake Lynn and on Saturday that was definitely the case.
The turtles were out in full force and I wondered if they have already begun to have babies.
I'm not sure what kind of turtles they are as that's not something I'm good at identifying.
Immediately after reading a sign that said horses aren't allowed on the walkways around the lake, I spotted two horse riders.
When I realized they were police officers I wondered how they would react if I said, I'm making a citizens arrest, you aren't supposed to be riding horses on this trail.
There are some early signs of spring at the lake but not as many as there are in the neighborhoods.
I like this time of year when part of my world looks like winter and part looks like spring.
When we were almost around the lake, I glanced over at a condominium complex which was bursting into spring mode.
There are some of the same geese and ducks at Lake Lynn as there are at Shelley, but not anything like as many at Lake Lynn. Lake Lynn has muscovy ducks (second shot) which I never see at Shelley but in terms of numbers of water birds there aren't as many.
There weren't any sea gulls at Lake Lynn although there are a lot of them at Shelley Lake at the moment. Most of the sea gulls leave before summer at Shelley.
I haven't seen any of the great blue herons at either lake recently although I see quite a few from around April through January at both lakes. For participants from around the world, please visit the home of That's My World Tuesday.

Lovely....The muscovy aren't the most beautiful ducks are they? I haven't seen any turtles yet or the herons..but a wood duck showed up yesterday....Michelle
Wonderful shots of beautiful place. Very scenic.
Terrific shots!
Those tortoise shots are too cute.
Love the turtles!
It's interesting what attracts the birds to certain areas that aren't all that different one from the other.
How lovely to have such a beautiful place so near your home!! That's how I feel about the beach and the harbor here -- they're five minutes away and I love it! Your photos are delightful as always, Carver! Love the all the ducks and turtles! That is funny about the policemen and horses! Yep, citizen's arrest is definitely in order!! Hope you have a wonderful week!
Sylvia
You are so lucky to have this so close to home. Is this your default walking spot?
Great photos, Carver! And a wonderful place to live! :)
The kind of world my camera loves. So peaceful and relaxing.
What a peaceful lovely walk you shuold have tried the citizens arrest:)
Carver: Really neat shots around your world. That pink tree was bursting with color.

That sure is a gorgeous spot to walk, Carver. No turtles here yet! :)
beautiful views, I like the ducks and the turtle, must have been a nice walk
I don't think I'd mind living there one bit! It's gorgeous. Love your new header of the flower - just beautiful.
it's so nice to see spring in photos - it gives me hope we'll have our own warmer weather some day soon. I love that first photo - the lake looks so peaceful and calm.
PS I always assume turtles are red sliders, mainly because that's about the only turtle I know.
What a lovely day to spend walking around the lake. The water so serene and calm and creatures are just enjoying the sun!
A lot of beautiful reflection shots too!
Such a beautiful and relaxing place. Your world is definitely better than mine.;)
I can barely tell the turtles from the ducks - close-up I can.
Those policemen were so rude - no horses means no horses. Can't they just bike?
Beautiful photos.
What a lovely walk!!! Great place to visit!!!
These made my evening. I especially love the turtle shots. They are so proud and silly at the same time. Love 'em, love 'em, love 'em.
such beautiful surroundings you have there. Never seen turtles in a lake, quite interesting! I love those blooms too.
Marites' Travels
