I went to Atlantic Beach, NC for a family gathering last week which was fun.
Since I didn't get home until late afternoon yesterday I haven't had a chance to go through my photographs so this is a quick smattering.
We had some great skies while we were there with a lot of variation in the lighting.
I had to laugh at the seagull above because I felt like it had the same reaction to how choppy the water was to mine. Proceed with caution.
There were a lot of kite surfers taking advantage of the wind to be out on the water. A few times the ones below got so close to each other I wondered if their kites would tangle.
The forecast the whole time we were there was for afternoon thunderstorms but we only had rain the last night we were there. Most of the time it was beautiful and windy.

Oh I love AB, love that whole area actually. In fact, I can't think of a beach on the NC coast I don't love... Haven't been to Atlantic Beach in a couple of years though. Could be time to head back. Soon!
Wonderful shots on the beach. You have captured different moods beautifully.
These are great photos. Thanks for this beach tour. I really like beach photos, especially those presenting lonely beaches.
Since I dont live near beach, I really enjoyed seeing these.
Thank you.
Happy Tuesday!
Breathtaking captures, Carver! And you have indeed captured the many different moods beautifully! These are the next best thing to being there! Thanks for taking us along! Have a great week!
Sylvia

Your beach photos are fantastic! It makes me anxious for our family beach gathering! I love the low tide shot...and the fences and grasses...so NC. And the sunset is also gorgeous.
hello Carver~ these pictures you've shared are incredible. i love the beach. one can never tire of those waters crashing over them. glad you had a great time. have a great day.
A gorgeous trip to heaven.
Carver: Really neat beach shots, thanks for sharing.
LOVE the beach shots!!
So nice! The photos and the beach are gorgeous, nice get-a-way!
awesome photos!
This is very clean and clear which is interesting seeing it is just up from all the oil mess. When I say 'just up' I guess you are going to tell me it is like hundreds of sea-miles (?)
Did you see any impact at all from the BP oil disaster? Do the ocean currents go up the coast or down the coast?
That's a nice beach but the weather seems very chilly an windy, love the kite flying and photo with the bird.
Wonderful photos
Regards, Bram
Seen on My World Tuesday
Beautiful series! They cheer me up. :)
Thanks to everyone for visiting and to answer the question about the oil spill:
So far the oil spill has remained in the gulf, as I understand it. There was concern depending on the currents that it might get swept into the Atlantic Ocean and from there go up the east coast but so far it hasn't done that.
I don't know how many sea miles it is, but the road distance from the Florida Panhandle to this beach in NC is over 700 miles. I'm assuming that if it went into the Atlantic that would happen around the Florida Keys which so far haven't been getting the big mess they expected. However it turns out though, I'm heart broken by what has happened in the Gulf. So far the North Carolina beaches are still clear and beautiful but sad what has happened to Gulf states.
beautiful pink skies and quite a relaxing beach
Beeeutiful!!
great shots of the beach. i particularly like the pink hues in the sky.
Great shots Carver!
Beautiful photos! We were just at Southport a couple of weeks ago!
