Our World Tuesday: Road Trip

Driving to the beaches on the North Carolina coast, from where I live in the central part of NC, the highways cut through rural areas.
01ourworgDSCN4335
I live in the triangle area of NC which is very developed so it's nice to see parts of the state which are still relatively rural.
01ourwofDSCN4338
Since I wasn't the driver I clicked all along the way.
01ourwofDSCN4334
The next shot has a fighter plane on a stand outside the entrance to a military base.
01ourwornDSCN4332
The road shots are a mix of ones I took on the way to the beach as well as on the way home.
01ourworcDSCN3796
The overcast sky was on the way there and the blue sky with clouds were on the way home.
01ourworltDSCN3798
The rest of the shots were taken at Atlantic Beach, NC.
01ourwtbDSCN3845
I posted a lot of shots from this short vacation last week but still have many to choose from.
01ourwbDSCN3826
It's still so hot that the shots I'm taking at home are pretty limited as I don't feel like walking in the heat.
01ourwordDSCN3836
Although it was also hot at the beach there were nice sea breezes.
01ourwortDSCN3824
The water temperature was good which is always nice.
01ourwortDSCN3905
Even wading in to get my feet and knees wet cooled me off.
01ourwtDSCN3967
I can't believe how many shots I took of the sky on this trip.
01ourwordcDSCN4080
I had a long skywatch post and still have a ton I haven't used. The shot below is of my two sisters.
01ourwordDSCN4044
Even without any storms while I was there, we had a variety of clouds to look at.
01ourwordDSCN4104
The ocean was a vivid blue too.
01ourworDSCN3988
The white in the breakers and the blue ocean mimic the white clouds and blue sky.
01ourworDSCN4048
The two people in the shot below are Bill and our adult child.
01ourwortDSCN3979
It amazed me how close the willets got to people.
01ourwortDSCN4050
I was probably a mile or more away from the pier when I shot it standing on the porch at the cottage.
01ourwpDSCN4098
The gull alternated between walking along the shore and flying out for a spot of fishing.
01ourwsDSCN4083
The last shot is one I took after dropping a family member off at the airport.

have a great day.

Waking up to that spectacular water view during your holiday must have been heaven. I am impressed that your camera/lens was able to capture the pier so well at such a distance. One of my favorite shots is the girl in red walking through the grasses towards the shore. :)

You know I love a good roadtrip -- and I feel like I was a passenger right along with you on this one.... some of it really brought back memories of our trip up East Coast a couple years ago... .

We are not getting to go this year because we are flying to Seattle to our son out there. Your photos are wonderful. The one of the 2 chairs down by the water is my kind of picture...Your skies shots are magical in their beauty. I would have been clicking away just like you. genie
