Our World Tuesday: Sunday cleared up for a walk

A few trees are beginning to change into their fall clothes.

Most are still wearing summer greens.

It rained cats and dogs on Saturday.

On Sunday the sun came out for a walk but there were plenty of puddles.

A few wildflowers are still blooming although most have gone to seed.

I was surprised to see a Great Egret. Great Blue Herons have been at the creeks and lakes near my house for a long time but this is the first time I've spotted a Great Egret. She looks like she's sitting on an egg although its the reflection of her lower body.

I like the subtle changes in colors on the trees.

The creeks are flowing fast after all the rain.

Although there are only a few leaves falling at this point soon they will be everywhere.

The light is changing more and more though hard to describe the changes.

I'm reminding myself to enjoy the green while waiting for more reds and yellows.
ourwotDSCN6648
I like the dappled light on the path.

One thing I enjoy this time of the year is how individual leaves that have changed colors pop out where soon the individuals are lost in the masses.

There's something amazing to me about how trees can hold on along creek and river banks.

The shallow tree roots seem to grasp the earth along the riverbanks like gnarled fingers. Their reach is wide although not deep. I liked going on this walk with you along the forest path ... soaking in all the different lighting that autumn brings. :)

Yep, I see a few signs that autumn colour is on its way to North Carolina. I love it when I see Great Egrets!

I love your walk! I too marvel when I see trees clinging to that little bit of soil on the banks and still thriving -- the Egret is beautiful!

You have such beautiful places to walk, I love to see the leaves changing colour but I don't like the winter that follows.

Your road captures are lovely, very classic and filled with great textures. The Great White Egret...so beautiful.

Wonderful scenery shots, and I too find tree roots along watersides fascinatingly beautiful, but the Egret was the winner in this post. What a thrill it would be to see one here.
