A desperate dog dropped through the icy lake not too far from the shore and began shivering drastically. I took the shot from a distance and realized the dog was in trouble so I headed down to the bank to help. My idea was to drag a log from the bank and push it to the puppy but a quick thinking young woman sloshed through the ice and scooped up the darling dog who was shaking uncontrollably. I donated my jacket to be used to wrap up the freezing dog. The dog had run away from home but his collar had his family's phone number and his human mom came and picked him up. He continued to shake uncontrollably and I hope his family took him to the vet if he didn't get better quickly. The day before this happened the dog could have probably walked along on the frozen lake but he picked the day when the sun was melting the ice and the temperatures were rising which resulted in him falling through the ice. That said, the lake was still very cold a fact that the daring young woman who went in after him attested to.

Inspiring words. Heroes live among us only
Brave woman. The poor dog.
I hope that the owners took care of him.
They went with him to the doctor.
Greetings from far away Polish.
I got cold just looking at the photo.
The poor puppy's expression really tells the story.
Thanks for helping rescue him.
Love the d post. Great job Carver.
FRANKLY MY DEAR.
Oh, the poor thing...and what a brave young woman to dare to go into that frozen liquid to save it. I sure hope he was okay.

the dog's guardian angel must have sent you! bravo for you and the other lady.
Oh poor thing. Last year we had a tiny little dog fall in our canal (when the temperature was in the 80s)... somehow it got out of its fence. It too was trembling (from the fear I guess). Fortunately we had lots of fishing boats with nets and our canal's not that wide, so they fished the poor thing out and dried it out. Has to be much worse in the cold obviously.
Poor doggy. Glad it was rescued...
We had a couple incidents around here with dogs stuck on the ice, fortunately rescued.
What a brave woman that was! Hope the dog's fine.
So fortunate that the woman was there. It does look frigid.

A heart warming story and I only hope the poor little fellow stopped shivering and shaking soon.
What a dog disaster, good you were all on hand.

I'm so glad someone got him. That's one of my fears about my little dog and a friend's lake! I hope this poor little thing is okay.
I hope he is ok.....
Ohh the poor dog!
Wow, quite a variety of skies in a matter of 10 days! Love seeing the snow (but don't have to live in it)! Hope the dog is okay now!
Carver, the picture along gave me a shiver, and I'm in Wisconsin! Stories of peril that end in triumph are my favorites. We are here to help one another - especially animals, who cannot speak for themselves. I loved this, thanks. Amy
