Our World and Nature Notes: spring like days

We've had a string of days with spring weather although it's supposed to turn cold again.

My hellebore (lenten rose) above was beaten down by the snow and ice but is still a harbinger of spring.

The birds watched the sunset with me one evening after the rain ended.
natworldDSCN6404
I was photographing the sunset from my window and the birds were in the tree tops.
natworldDSCN6408
Most of the birds left but there was one that watched the sunset as long as I did.

A bird was watching the sunrise with me one morning below.
natworldDSCN6549
Male cardinals usually stand out but the one below found a tree with camouflage to suit his feathers.
natworldDSCN6571
I love bare winter trees but am beginning to look for signs of new growth.
natworldDSCN6588
A few of my daffodils are already blooming.
natworldDSCN6602
The female cardinal below was keeping an eye on me.
natworldDSCN6610
The titmouse below was also watching me.
natworldDSCN6614
Titmouse move so fast it's hard for me to shoot them (with my camera of course).
natworldDSCN6615
We've had some beautiful skies in between gray periods.
natworldDSCN6619
The rest of the shots are from a walk this Sunday.
natworldDSCN6621
It was a great day for a walk.
natworldDSCN6629
The cormorants are still at the lake but they usually leave in the spring and return in the fall.
natworldDSCN6637
The gulls also leave this lake in the spring and return by late fall or early winter.
natworldDSCN6640
The gulls must breed somewhere else because there are gulls year round where I live but they aren't at this particular lake after spring gets underway or in the summer.
natworldDSCN6645
I always start watching for them to return in the late fall.
natworldDSCN6648
The great blue heron are at the lake year round.

Great set of photos. I think my favorite is the lone bird in the tree during the sunset - the silhouette with the burnt sky in the background is wonderful.

It looks quite different there than it looks here! I envy your daffodils!

The daffodils really caught my attention. In my neck of the woods the green stems are just starting to sprout. Thank goodness because we had a surprise snowfall and I don’t think the flowers would have liked it.

enjoyed each photograph, nature at play, and wish you warm sunny days ahead as you venture into spring (as we venture into autumn, my favourite time of year)

The heron looks like he's guarding the flock of gulls! Wonderfl walk.

You already know what I'm going to say about the daffodils (That sentence should be in green ... so envious!)
