We have had a very wet March and for that matter we've had a wet four years or so.
I'd rather have too much rain than too little and at this point I'm happy when it doesn't freeze. We only had one morning with black ice this past week.
The mourning dove above was all puffed out on a cold morning and the female cardinal below took a bath in the sun a little later.
During a neighborhood walk I spotted the squirrel below on his own feeder.
I'm not sure if the warbler was getting ready to join the woodpecker but I like the way he looks like he's poised in mid air.
I like the way I can see more of the sky from my windows while many of the trees are still naked.
I think nuthatches are so much fun to watch.
The way they dart up and down trees makes it hard for me to photograph them.
Below the brown thrasher was facing a bird it scared off the deck wall. Although I didn't catch the bird that was in the air I did capture his shadow.
I think brown thrashers have crazy looking eyes.
The male cardinal below looks like a tree hugger.
The ravens below look like a handsome couple hanging out on the branch.
I'm surprised how well some of the tree's flowers are doing while others couldn't take the cold snap.
Even on gray days there is color to be found.
I was envious of how well the hellebores below were doing because mine didn't fare well this year.
I started to photograph the flock below on one tree but by the time I focused they had flown to another tree which is where I caught them.

It is nice to see raindrops on the petals of the first flower. And I could jump right into your new header ... it is so tempting with its carpet of flowers under trees in bloom!
Wonderful variety presented today.
Cute capture of the mourning dove. What a name! Wonder why such a beautiful bird got such a name.
what great images. i don't know if i could pick a favorite. they all make me long for spring though. it rained/ snowed this past Saturday. but, despite bad weather i did notice three of my young trees have blooms on them, yay... we're supposed to have nice weather this week sometime. i can't wait. have a great day~
Terrific pics, Carver, as always and such a wonderful look at your world and its many, delightful birds and critters! Thanks for sharing! Hope you have a beautiful week with more sun and less rain!!! At least for a while!!
Your photos are excellent as ever! Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful captures from your wonderful world as always! I love your bird-photos!!!
Oh so beautiful shots of birds and critters. I used to feed the squirrels in my old place.
Didn't play this time, my internet connection at home was nonexistent, boo hoo!
Wow! What a gorgeous array of photos! Nature captured so beautifully for OWT ~ xoxo

You did well to capture those shots of the nuthatch.
Isn't it funny how this little black birds take wing as one entity! You did a good job of catching them -- and a super job of catching the nuthatch in its elevator-like journeys. Your world is beautiful in spite of rain (and because of it actually of course). Thanks for sharing it.
Gorgeous scenes and photos. The flowers are lovely and the birds are always pretty. Love the cute warbler in mid air and the nuthatch! Have a happy week!
A wonderful series of captures - I particularly like the shot of helibores.
It looks like Spring! Lovely photos. The nuthatch sure is cute!
Love the way you caught that bird shadow. And those blossoms are amazing!
Beautiful pictures! Reminds me that I haven't gone birding for long time now!
Wonderful pictures! I have never seen a cardinal around here…gorgeous bird!
Really like the bird shadow with the thrasher image. And all the colors...isn't Spring wonderful?!
A wonderful series! You made such gorgeous photos as always! :)
Dear Carver,
all of your photos showing the spring are beautiful.
Greetings.

Oh I am glad that the cold didn't take everything out. Love your spring.... Michelle
I like that Spring is creeping northward. My Hellebores still look a bit ragged, although they are recovering nicely. The Warbler appears to be fitting the breaks before landing. Woodpeckers are so shy, I hope she didn't scare him. Love your nuthatch photos.
Gorgeous photos! LOVE the dove, and the narcissus, especially! Such a lovely post.
