That's my world is a new photo meme which is hosted by Klaus, Ivar, Wren, Fishing Guy & Tom . As they put it: This new Meme is for everyone, who has a photoblog! With it you become a virtual tourist guide, showing all of us your part of the world. The world has become so small these days, and yet we know so little about each other. So why not change that? With an introduction like that how could I resist joining in.
The city I live in has had the nickname City of Oaks since the eighteenth century, therefore, I thought I'd start with a collage of the oak trees in front of my house from each of the four season. They are shot from different spots but they are all of the same oaks.
Naturally the City of Oaks has a 1,250-pound, 10-foot-tall copper-and-steel acorn that rest in Moore Square in downtown Raleigh throughout the year. This big nut is lowered on New Year's Eve by crane as part of the First Night Raleigh Celebration. Being something of a nut myself it seems appropriate that I live in the city which arguably has the biggest nut to be found. In addition to being the home of the big nut and me, Raleigh is the capital of the state of North Carolina in the U.S. To visit other participant from across the world please visit That's my World.
Note-This is my photoblog and I usually limit text since I have another wordy blog. I will probably try to keep the text portion down in future posts.

Cool - that is neat - seeing the for seasons in one tree - and an interesting part of your town's history! Great job - and thanking for joining! People seem to enjoy the new meme - I sure am!
Cheers, Klaus
Oh I love it Carver! I do a photo out my bedroom window on the first of every month to see the changes so I love what you did here naturally. Love that big acorn too. Thanks for sharing!
Gorgeous photos. These type of foiliage photos are some of my favorite to take.
What a great way to start off this meme with the four seasons of an oak tree. This will be fun! :D
Beautiful glimpses, Carver.
I love the fall and winter photos of your collage!
Carver: What a really neat journey through the season with your tree. Thanks for sharing your acorn from your town center. You certantly have a really neat city to share with us.
How cool! I love that huge acorn! Your trees are beautiful in all seasons.
Great post and pictures!

Hello from the other side of NC! Great series of photos - love the acorn!
Your trees are wonderful--I love the every season approach. And the acorn is just too fun!
Nice way to begin.
I love that acorn!
Thanks for the wonderful trip around your place. So very much different from my place but I do wanna share my place also to you. Great job.
Beautiful collage, the autumn colours are great.
You have shared the whole year - and the nut with us. Thank you!
Beautiful post with interesting description of various kinds of nuts. The oak being my favourite tree, how can I help being enchanted.
Look forward to more acorns of wisdom next week.
WHAT AN AMAZING OLD TREE. NICELY DISPLAYED IN THIS 4 SEASON MURAL. TUESDAYS WILL BE SUCH FUN!
Oak trees have always been my favourites, you are lucky to have such beautiful trees so close to you, I love seeing photos of the same thing in different seasons.
Like the collections of shots, never had the patience to try something like this before.
Beautiful collage, Carver! love the acorn, which I think I have seen in your "wordy" blog.
Oh, a new meme!!!
Thanks for the interesting photos and information. And thanks for visiting!
Interesting seeing those four seasons... Nice work...
Out here in the west we are currently losing a lot of our Live Oak trees due to a fungus -- they call it "sudden oak death"... A tree can look healthy one week and be completely dead the next...
I just had to join in, so I posted a random shot...thanks so much for the link, Carver!
Oaks are so majestic, I think, and yours are no exception... wonderful shots!
Very cool, you have a big acorn mine has a big safety pin. My entry is at my other blog
http://ewok1993.wordpress.com
Thanks for great photographs as well as the little narrative about your town which I had heard the name of but nothing about. the acorn is fantastic.
This is a cool idea, maybe I'll try joining this meme, let's see... I loved your photos, as I love oaks, being this my surname in Portuguese: Carvalho.
Kisses from Nydia.
Beautiful your Oak World. Good season shot idea.
Oh I love the collage showing the four seasons, great idea!
