I live in a city with greenway trails and parks which are an oasis of sorts in a highly developed area. These trails cut through woods which have been preserved, often alongside creeks, and around lakes. The Capital Area Greenway System (which is in Raleigh, NC, USA) currently has 54 miles of trails and a 3000 acre system which includes many parks. The shot below was taken at the lake near my house which has many connecting trails radiating out from it.
Below are two maps of the greenway system. The left hand map shows the entire system with trails in brown. Because of its scale you can't see the creeks which run along side many trails. Therefore, the map on the right shows the part of the system (mid to northern portion of left map) near where I live with trails in green and water in blue. The lake in the shot above is the only lake shown on the right hand map but is the top center lake on the left hand map.

I love trail systems that go through developed areas and make you forget, in places, that the area is so developed. A beautiful lake!
Hi Carver, nice to see your part of the world, with super shots.
Wonderful view of the lake. Great to live close to such a beautiful lake. Thanks for your visit.
You live in such a lovely green area, beautiful! Thank you for showing me your world!
Oh that's nice. Over here we have a bay trail too going around the bay.
see you next week.
What a beautiful area! Cool to see those maps as well.
Outstanding pic, I love it. Thanks for sharing!
Cheers!

What a gorgeous photo and thank you for sharing the maps with us. Fabulous post. I'll be back next week to visit more of your part of the world.
Someone in your city thought ahead to preserve so much land! YAY! It's sooo pretty.
Great Oasis and Nature.
Nice scenery! and thanks for the introduction. ;)
I'd love to have the chance to explore your area!
This must be a beautiful area. Your photo is wonderful and your map is very interesting:)
Great photo! We have a greenway where I live, too, but no vista like that.
Trail systems are great and so worthwhile. Love the piccie
It's nice to live near water -- in any form. Well anyway, that's my bias. ;-}
Thanks for showing us your lake, and that pretty sky, too.
At least you have some green belt areas and wild life corridors and breathing space for humans. Great in an urban environment.
Thank you for the wonderful tour. This 2nd week of meme really makes us appreciate the many places that we don't usually see or ever had a chance to visit like the one you showed me in this post. Hope you get to have time to check my world too. Another great job and more to come in the coming weeks.
Glad you gave the trail picture too. The shot is BEAUTIFUL!
Nice world my dear thanks for sharing...
I can just see Opie and Andy on the banks, fishing...
How wonderful that the city has preserved this natural area. This must be where you get so many beautiful photos!
Hey I used to swim at a place that looked exactly like that when I was a kid, in NJ!
Carver: That looks like a wonderful place and the lake looks like a neat plce to visit. Thanks for sharing your world.
What a wonderful thing to have so close to home eh?!
Interesting to hear about these trail systems, Carver. Lovely shot as always!
Beautiful Sky, and its now yet Skywatch Friday!
Overall, this photo has wonderful impact!
That is amazing view, very peaceful.
Thanks for sharing your world.
Uh - that's my kind of place ! :)
