Since North Carolina has FINALLY gone blue in a presidential election, I thought I'd show you our Carolina blue sky serving as a backdrop to my dogwood tree. To visit other Skywatch participants, please go to the home of Skywatch Friday. This will be a mixed post of sorts and my mostly wordless blog will have words.
The presidential election was so close in NC that we didn't find out until this morning's paper that it is being called for Barack Obama, who will get our electoral votes. He didn't need them, but it means a lot to me that my state voted for him.

Hi Carver,
The skies through your Dogwood are just beautiful. I love the red against the blue. Have a great weekend...
The red and the blue is breathtaking!
Carver: You got the Red and the Blue, all you needed was one white cloud. that was a neat shot.
Really like this combination of red and blue.
Nice. A quiet celebration.
Oh I was going to ask what type of tree is on the first photo and your first commenter said dogwood. I was asking because we have this and I have not learned of its name.
Woo hoo---sorry still have hangover.
Brill post Carver.
Well done Carver. Lovely shot for SWF and have a good week.
Good sky watch post, my state also went blue in the election. We normally are, but it was more important to me this year.
The red dogwood is absolutely gorgeous against the blue sky!
You had an all-purpose photo. It would have worked for red or blue state.
Nice thinking.

Gorgeous! Our dogwoods are just starting to turn. I just took some photos! Perhaps for next week's sky watch!
Wow what a bright day. Full of the promise we have now. Well done to you and North Carolina Carver.
that sky photo is so eorgeous! what vibrant colors!
Your skywatch picture is pretty...TC
The reds from the leaves are beautiful against the sky. Gave me a flash thought of Ruby Tuesday as well :)
Happy Friday Carver!!
I like your blue state's blue sky -- and the dogwood, too. Happy SkyWatching.
That autumn tree and blue skies are just perfection:)
Mine's, HERE.Happy SWF!
Lovely shot! Red against blue!!
Beautiful:) And I love your globe. It is a wonderful representation.
That is a stunning image, Carver.
Great capture with the red popping out of the blue... Awesome... It is absolutely beautiful!
I thought it was crazy that Wautauga (where I live) was the only blue little county for miles in western NC.......I'm glad he prevailed here, too :o)
Thank you NC! And what a wonderful way to tie it all together ..
Great photos .. and perfect Peace blog blast photo!

Great dogwood and a greater electoral result. Congratulations America!
Beautiful colors! And hooray for North Carolina, and for our next president!!! :)
Here, here! Peace and beauty make a beautiful combination.
How beautiful the sky is behind that red tree. I was in Missouri a month ago and my dad's tree was that color then. You must have lovely, warm weather.
Wonderful contrast on red and blues! wow!
Wonderful Sky Watch! The contrast is excellent, and the transparency of the leaves gives a wonderful effect.
I love how the leaves stand out with sky as the background. Awesome shot!
