Graceful gates galore grow upward at the NC Botanical Garden in Chapel Hill.
Gorgeous gliders top the garden gate below to guard the greenhouse which growers use in the botanical garden.
Green grassy gate greets the visitors to the botanical garden.
Grand Guady gate glows in front of the Colonial Governor's Palace in Colonial Williamsburg, VA.
Grim soldiers guard the gate leading into the Colonial Capitol in Williamsburg, VA.
Gracious gentlewomen allow you to gain entrance, to one of the many town houses, through the white picket gate.
You can stroll through the garden at another colonial house and enter via the gate.
There are such a generous supply of gates in Colonial Williamsburg that I'll stop with one last substantial gate which leads to a carriage house which surely has a groom or two.

A Grand colletion of Gates. I like the ones from the botonical Gardens especially.
Truly wonderful,Thanks for sharing it with us at ABC Wednesday.
Gorgeous gates and gardens!
the blackbird gate is my favourite.
u mean to say those gorgeous birds are actually a gate? how clever! :D a lovely post for the word G!!
My ABC Wednesday G
You must have worked hard to get such a nice variety of gates. No. 2 from the bottom is my favourite.
What a contrast -- I just finished looking at Francisca's photo essay on gates in Mongolia, clicked on your name next and got more gates.
Gorgeous ones!
Interesting to think of people in such different parts of the world feeling the need for gates. None would really keep out a determined intruder, but stray passers-by would be deterred from trespassing.
Glorious captures, gorgeous place! Have always wanted to visit there. This is the next best thing! Love the Gates and Gardens! Have a grand day, Carver!

A lovely place to visit. Love the garden & colonial houses, as well as the soldiers lined up in the gates. :)

Great Gates for G Day. Lovely gates, and grassy gates, bird gates and a Glamorous Gate. Thanks for sharing all the Gates of Gates.
wow wow and more wow! LOVE your photos and these gates are phenomenal. Enjoyed the history here as well as the garden. :D
Gates are really mysterious because they can keep something/some out or in. All your photos and grand words to match the photos made this such a wonderful post!
This has been just the most beautiful tour.... thank you so much for a delightful ABC Wednesday.. I think I'll just camp here a while!
Oh, I want to go there! And that red cape is fantastic!!!
Just marvelous, - love the places your Gates lead to as well!
Great take on the alphabet 'G'. :)
Stunning Gates indeed!

Cheers from the desert! my entry is here http://kcelebration.blogspot.com/2010/08/venice-grand-canal.html
some beautiful gates...
it has been so long since I have gone to Williamsburg...you photos are tempting me.
Lovely gates. There is something mystical about a garden gate, isn't there?
Gorgeous!
I see you love gates too :D
The Botanical garden is so awesome, lovely details. When I think of Botanical garden I always think of signs with names on them and boring (you know what I mean), but this one has a fairy tale style :D
I love the colonial houses too, exactly my style of houses (big and small - I'm weird and have many likes :D)
Great post for the letter G....
Beautiful garden and gates!
Kisses from Nydia.
