I took the first shot at sunset on Monday. The little circle of light near the bottom is a streetlight but I think it looks like the moon.
I took the second shot at what would have been sunrise this morning (Thursday) but it's pouring rain which is freezing because it's still cold. We had a little snow which changed to freezing rain. It is a mess. Instead of a pretty ground cover, the snow on the ground is covered with rain which is freezing on impact and the road is ice at the moment. It is supposed to get above freezing later today before the temperatures drop again tonight. I would rather have more snow and skip the ice.

beautiful sunset. our streets don't look so good right now because we have LOTS of snow. it's a winter wonderland outside my window. i love it. i hate to hear you have ice. hope the electric doesn't go out because of it. we had an ice storm a few years ago and the electric on the other side of our neighborhood went out. stay warm. have a great day.
YUCK .. stay safe, stay warm and thanks for the lovely skies ..
I cannot fathon a freezing rain, or how ugly that can be. But just be careful. The last image of the street covered in white is so lovely.
Yes, I'm with you about skipping the ice!
Those are some steep driveways to be icy!
Be careful in that very pretty scene.
I have very little ability to deal with snow and ice but it IS lovely to view from afar, thanks for sharing.
we're getting our first snow fall right now, so pretty
Such terrific captures in spite of the darker colors and the gray! The first one would make a perfect cover for a mystery novel!! Hope you have a great weekend, Carver! Stay warm and safe!

Dang it looks cold!!
Two lovely snowy pictures. However, it brings a lot of chaos when it freezes, not only for people driving in it but for pedestrians. Fortunately I didn't have to go outside today. It looks like we have had the same amount of snow.
Beautiful sunset, I hope you stay warm and safe with the freezing rain coming down. We had some snow today.
Streetlight, moon, .. whatever :)
Well captured!
Beautiful, magical photos! I so wish we had your snow!
You're right, it looks like moon :)
I live in a tropical country, never touch any real snow...
Oh, look at the snow! Stay warm and cozy! Be safe!
Love the colour of the first one! Unusual colour capture!
Dear Carver,
Your pictures are outstanding! It's really cold there! And your header is beautiful!Very well done!
Hugs
Léia
the light does look like the moon, low and rising...a beautiful effect!
beautiful sky photos
Gr, Bram
Beautiful SkyWatch photos wonderful colors
Nice colors in your first photo, Carver.
The second looks like our skies this week: gray.
I hope you'll have some better winter weather soon.
Enjoy your weekend!
a bit of tricky on the road. not a very pretty combination of snow and rain. but the sunset is lovely! :)
The first shot is simply amazing... yes even the street light adds the dramatic effect as a moon!
