I was raking leaves on Saturday and it started snowing. I didn't realize we had a chance of snow that day.
I grabbed my camera and an umbrella so my camera wouldn't get wet and started snapping pictures.
I didn't think it would amount to anything so I wanted to get some wintry shots while it lasted.
I checked the weather online and it said there was a chance of rain changing to snow when the temperatures dropped which baffled me since it was pouring down snow while I was reading that.
I kept going out with my umbrella taking pictures thinking maybe they had it backwards and it would switch over to rain.
I had to laugh at myself remembering how my daughter used to tease me when I wanted to check the weather report before going outside so I'd know if I needed a jacket.
My daughter would say, mom why don't we just open the door and step outside to see what the weather is like.
It is silly how I rely so much on either the internet or the TV to tell me what the weather is like and then am surprised when I go outside and it's not like what they were forecasting at all.
When I woke up Sunday I went back outside to take more pictures before it all melted.
It was very pretty Sunday morning with the blue sky and snow.
The snow covered the ground but didn't stick on the roads which is my preference at this point in my life. A few trees still haven't dropped their leaves so it was very colorful.
I almost felt like the weather had been intended to give me photo opportunities without the inconvenience of icy roads.
I definitely took advantage of wintry scenes to photograph.

One picture more beautiful than other, this set of winter spots is magnificent!
I loved those cherries with snow mood!
Léia :)
Looks like a significant amount of snow fell. What a pretty wintry scenery it created.
Have a lovely week ahead.
Beautiful .. and cold .. keep it there please
Fabulous shots of snowy world. Red berries with snow look great.
What beautiful shots!
What absolutely gorgeous captures, Carver! Oh, how beautiful to walk out into such a snowy, magical world and remember to have your camera!!! The beauty of winter, like every season, it has something perfect and breathtaking about it. Have a wonderful week!
Sylvia
It's very pretty, Carver. I'm glad you captured it before it melted.
Grandi immagini invernali.
Mi piacciono molto questi bianco e nero con alcuni spruzzi di colore.
Buona serata.
Myriam :)
I am impressed with your snow pictures, especially when holding an umbrella and camera at the same time! I love the red berries in the snow. The white, green and red definitely is making me feel like Christmas. :)
beautiful photos. i don't think the weathermen ever get it right anymore. i've always stepped outside to decide what i needed to wear. i should have gone for a walk too so i could have had more winter pics to share, sigh. maybe next time.
hope all is well. have a great day.
I love that last photo, I can clearly see the snow falling...I can't get it right with a shot like that.. :D Have a lovely week!
Beautiful shots, Carver! I love the red berry shots.
You got beautiful shots, one better than the other. Truly pretty pics.
Brrr! I am feeling cold at 17C here looking at your great shots!
Your snow is very beautiful.
Thank you.
I agree with the first comment, One picture is better than the other.... nice series.... enjoyed seeing your family photo's on FB too :)
You're as nuts as I am. I was just out there in a tropical deluge trying to get a few shots of it bucketing down. We so seldom get a tropical storm that comes down across the whole continent.
Lovely Christmas spirited photos. What wonders a snowfall creates! The first real snow is always so exciting, glad you went out shooting.
The Prof's answer when the children asked what the weather would be like was invariably 'look out the window'. As professor of meteorology he insisted that he studied the weather but was no soothsayer.
snow! that's a lot of snow and you captured them well! i really like those cherries on snow effect:)
Your landscape looks almost like mine, but I miss your lovely red berries, which gives a bright contrast to the white snow.
I wish you a wonderful week!

BEAUTIFUL....:)
A beautiful series of images, the last but one is my fav! Thanks for sharing the beauty of your part of the world.
I love the color combination on the second and fourth pictures. All these images make me feel brrrr... Stay warm.
Beautiful - snow against blue sky is striking.
I think you actually got more snow than we did yesterday, but it's snowing again here so I think we'll catch up pretty fast.
I like the greenish special effects of the tunnel. Great Job. I also like the red berries against the snow. We have a summer Christmas here.
lovely to see the snow there, we don't have snow here so no such views that I can enjoy.
You got some great pictures!
That is quite a bit of snow for you...
