ABC Wednesday: W is for Whimsical Weathervanes

The folk art museum in Colonial Williamsburg, VA has wonderfully whimsical weathervanes.

Some of the weathervanes include wire that will whirl with the wind.

I wouldn't mind the weathervane with the horse and cart that includes wheels.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the fish weathervanes at a coastal house. The workmanship is amazing to me and I think some may be made of wrought iron.

Well, I think that's all the W's I can work into this post. Click for the home of ABC Wednesday.

What wonderful weathervanes. I've always loved them, but have never had one. I think the prairie wind would whip one off our house.

Fascinating, aren't they? I was thinking about weathervanes the other day - years ago, I bought one as a gift - it was a rowboat with fishermen who reeled and cast their lines. I wonder if it still exists.

A great collection Carver, - thanks for sharing it. Our neighbour has a small windmill that encourages dreaming as it sifts around in the wind while I have morning coffee.

I think weathervanes are so compelling--and leave it to Williamsburg to do them up with class! Great post!

The second one is unusual, a bit like a dream chaser.
