SkyWatch Friday: Morning Clouds Around My House

This Wednesday morning I was stunned by the variety of clouds I saw with a simple walk around my house.

The shot above was taken after I stepped out my driveway door and pointed my camera at the sky over my house (northwest). The next shot was taken in the street in front of my house facing to the end of the road I live on (southwest).

The shot below was taken while I stood on my deck and faced away from my house (northeast).

I was standing in my back yard just off the deck facing over my chimney for the next one. The way I angled the camera it was sort of in between most of my reference points so I can't call the direction.

I was in my yard for the one below and I'm pretty sure I was facing away from my house slightly northeast.

The next one was taken from my deck facing over the roof of my house, and is another where it's hard for me to call the direction.

The last one was taken back in my driveway facing over my house towards the west.

That’s why it’s fun to sky-gaze. It’s vast up there, the scene is always changing, and things look different depending on where you’re standing. I love the northwest layer of thick clouds over your house. They look like thousands of cotton balls pieced together into one huge fluffy blanket.

Isn’t it fascinating you can capture so many different skies in such a few minutes. It amazes me. That first one is awesome the way it is popping through the tree tops. All of them are beautiful. Guess you got a good downfall. Genie

cotton clouds. :) They look so soft you want to touch them.

I agree with EG, they do look like cotton batting, that is the first thing I thought of.

Those are pretty, puffy clouds...they look sort of like batting for a quilt floating in the sky!

A great set of cloud pictures, Carver. The little puffs of cotton batting would make a great duvet....

It is quite an experience when you see so much in such a relatively small space. Sometimes I just stand there with my mouth open and forget even to snap.
The sky so often amazes one.
Beautiful captures of Heinz 57 varieties.

One of the things I enjoy about skywatch is how much more I notice and pay attention to aspects of the natural world I wouldn't have noticed before. Your clouds are a wonderful example, and it's fun to see those skies through your eyes.
