We had a beautiful day for paddling in a canoe on the New River.
This is the New River in the northwestern NC mountains that flows into the Virginia mountains. There is another New River in NC that is in the southeastern part of the state that empties into the Atlantic ocean but that's a different river.

Beautiful and scenic place.
What a lovely area. The butterfly is beautiful!
so you have two New Rivers? Maybe one can be Old New and the other new New. Or one can be East New and West New.
Your pictures make me want to jump into that canoe and enjoy the New River too.
How lucky to have such a nice place to visit. Great photos!

must be so peaceful floating on that river.
NIFTY photos!!!! Enjoy Spring in your neck of the woods.
Beautiful place; I'd love to do that paddle. Two rivers with the same name? Now that's geographically challenging.
Gorgeous place and excellent photography for N for ABC ~ ^_^
Just gorgeous, I could stay there forever and a day. (And I love all the shots but especially that last wonderful boat!)
You Never disappoint. :)
Lovely captures!
Marvelous greens and beautiful photos. I can imagine a canoe and a lazy afternoon floating along amongst all that greenery.

Great pictures, Carver! I do miss Virginia and NC. So glad you posted this!
It looks so peaceful there. Love the second photo with the butterfly.
Carver, lovely pictures as always. The butterfly, caught with its wingspan perfectly open, was the most beautiful sight. Can't wait for the monarchs and viceroys of the northern states to come back. Ditto the lightning bugs! Amy
Looks like a nice place to visit...I ought to go there since we live in Western NC! I love your tiger swallowtail...it's a beauty!
A beautiful day to explore the lake.
