Our World Tuesday: WRAL TV Azalea Garden

Sunday was cloudy in the morning and rainy in the afternoon.

Fortunately the rain didn't start until after we made a morning visit to the WRAL TV Azalea Garden in Raleigh, NC.
ourworldtDSCN6461
The Capitol Broadcasting Company founder A.J. Fletcher created the garden in 1959.
ourworltDSCN6431
The garden underwent a major renovation in the early 2000's
ourworltDSCN6437
The garden has 45 different varieties of azaleas.
ourworltDSCN6447
I was also taken with what a great habitat the garden is for birds.
ourworltDSCN6465
There are lots of birdhouses and birdbaths, suet cages and other treats.
ourwortDSCN6454
There is also a great variety of different plants as well as all the azaleas.
ourwortDSCN6456
The garden has whimsical touches.
ourwortDSCN6470
I'm sure it's a great place for people who work there to take a break.
ourwortDSCN6472
I like the winding paths and enjoyed walking down and around.
ourwortDSCN6477
There are also a lot of trees which I find restful in gardens.
ourwortDSCN6488
There is something about brand new green leaves that I love.
ourwortDSCN6504
I'll end with the whimsical tree ornaments.

I, too, like a forest amid flowers that can flourish in the shade. The added fountain, benches and baubles make this a haven for people and birds.

I think I'd be overpowered by the grandness of these gardens - but I like the ball!

Carver, what a beautiful garden. The azaleas are gorgeous. And I like the pretty balls hanging from the trees. I'm sure the birdies love it there. Great photos!

That's a pretty garden. The robin looks like it is "sitting pretty" and enjoying the bath.

If I ever had to go to work again (no chance, nobody would want me) I'd like to work somewhere where the owners built a beautiful garden park like this. I love the plantings and all the whimsical touches.

What a lovely, delightful place! Something I enjoy about your posts is that you really take us with you in your pictures and in your captions. It's like being able to walk along with you and hear your thoughts as we enjoy grace and beauty together.
