Nature Notes and Our World: Early November

It's feeling and looking more and more like fall in my neck of the woods.

Hard to believe that winter is around the corner.

After many years of working primarily from home I have started commuting to work more and more which is making me less eager for a snowy winter this year.

Starting next week I'll be working in the office 5 days a week which I haven't done since 2001.

In some ways I don't mind because I have some flexibility about when I come in and leave and I'm sure if we do have a snowy winter like last year I can work from home on days when the commute would be hairy.

However, this time of the year last year I was hoping for some pretty snow and we had a lot more snow than usual which I enjoyed. We never know what we'll get since some years we don't have any snow and others quite a bit for our part of the world.

This year I'm hoping for a moderate winter.

We had a moderate summer which was nice so maybe winter will follow suit.

For now, I'm enjoying a colorful fall provided courtesy of the leaves although the sky has been gray much of the time.

The first shot was a lunchtime walk this past week, and the rest of the shots are from a Sunday walk today.

Autumn enchantment is everywhere in your world. Hope you do have a mild winter since you will be driving more. Also like the previous post … the windswept petals are pretty but remind me of a bad hair day. :)

The Fall colors are just wonderful; I would think that it would be more fun not to know exactly what to expect for winter (as opposed to those who live in the snow belt, where they pretty much know what they'll have).

Commuting daily after all that time does not sound real fun. But you've shown pictures around your office and on the drive, so it can't be all bad. And flex hours would be a definite bonus.

I am also wishing for a moderate winter...ours are usually severe with over 100 inches of snow. I would love to have our fall delayed so that leaves lasted into November....your pictures are so lovely.

Beautiful fall colors. I like that you have flexibility with your job. I wonder how much more happy some people would be with their jobs with a little more flexibility. We are both hoping for a moderate winter... HAPPY BIRTHDAY as I see on my FB page....Michelle
