There is a city park in my neighborhood with a year round pool. In the winter the pool has a cover over it and is heated and in the summer the cover is removed and it's an outdoor pool.
The reason that I titled this post poor pool planning is that the pool and buildings have undergone a major renovation, and were originally scheduled to reopen in the fall of 2008 but due to delays won't be ready to open until May of 2009. The problem is that the new cover was put on when they thought it would be open for the winter.
Since the pool won't be ready to open until May of 2009, a few weeks after it re-opens, it will be time to close it briefly to take the cover off for the outdoor pool season. Sounds like a wasted effort to me. Part of the delays involve the new pool buildings which adjoin the pool, and have the showers and office. It's too bad they didn't finish the buildings before deciding whether to have the cover on or off the pool.

Bet you're there 1st for a dip, lol, great shots and info, hope all goes well with it.
It looks like a gigantic pool, one you'll spend lots of time at this summer. Nice that it can be an outdoor pool in summer.
Carver: I guess the only good thing is the cover will make it warmer for the workers.
Nice pictures, and I hope you'll have more luck next year (with sooner opening)
I'm sure people cant wait till it officially reopens.
Great entry.
I would think a little shade from harmful UV rays would be a good thing any time of the year.
Too bad that you don't have pool in the winter. Be patient. Next winter and May isn't far away.
How strange. Hope the weather improves for it.
I bet there will be a lot of people ready for a swim when it finally opens. Looking forward to some warmer weather myself. Hope you have a great week.
Doesn't everything take longer than it seems, and timing is always less than perfect. It's par for the course.
Great pics, looks like alot of work to get it up and going. Thanks for the info.
Cheers!

It reminds me of a fancy convertible sports car :)
Nice shots!Another four months to go and then...
Your world is a lot like the rest of the world in this respect. But take heart, they may yet run late and need the covering roof by the time they actually open.
That's beaurocracy for you! Maybe someone wanted the extra money to put it up and dismantle it for no reson. It smacks of 'jobs for the boys'.
Those are seriously good shots, Carver. All the best for 2009.
I would love to be in that pool, Carver! What a project getting that thing built.
The pool looks beautiful anyway. It's a pity that a lot of work was done in vain. Your photos are excellent.
