ABC Wednesday: F is for Ferns

I love finding large groups of ferns with full fronds in the forest.

Ferns and flowers following the path to the Paul Greene cabin in the NC botanical garden below are lovely.

I planted ferns in my front garden and sadly many were lost to drought and being choked by vines (this is an old shot below during an early spring).

I think it's fun that the next fern volunteered on the foundation of my house and it's indestructible, having grown there now for 6 years.

I have ferns growing under the shade of a tree in my front yard and I love them. They also grow abundantly in the forests where I walk and sometimes fight for space with the vines. The one you have growing sideways in your foundation certainly found a unique spot, Carver. It seems to be a bit of an acrobat. :)

Ferns are great plants. I love walking through a wood that's overgrown with fern, it always makes the whole scenery look like there's a dino around the corner.

I think ferns are lovely. I remember when I was young we lived surrounded by a forest. The ferns were thick. We would build little tee-pees and cover them with ferns. We pretended they were are houses. Those were the days when I was young.

I love the shot of the black-eyes susans against the greenery of the ferns. I have one fern that's taken over in my garden and it does not want to go away...so I let it stay! lol Have a fab week,

Ferns look so beautiful in a garden. And in the woods too!

I think ferns are about the greenest things you can see! And I can almost smell that earthy aroma from your photos.

I love those kind of ferns, it's so green that lighten up the color of your garden.

I love ferns. The volunteered along the walls of my grandmother's gardens. After she died, I dug a couple up and they're thriving.

I planted ferns in my front garden heheheh,

I posted ferns too, and those I planted. Unlike your ferns, in Singapore, with lots of rain, you don't have to water them. My garden lasted 5 years after I left.

I love ferns. Ferns are very good to mix with flowers in decorating. Aside from that there are some ferns that edible I used to eat it when I was in the Philippines. ^_^

Lovely calm and peaceful pictures -- ferns whether in pictures or in real life make me feel like that!
Of course they do well here in cool shady western Oregon, but I was really surprised to find them growing beautifully in our part of Florida. (When we first got there I guess I just expected palm trees).

Some ferns are indestructible. But beautiful when walking in the woods.

I love finding fiddleheads while walking through the woods and along roadsides in the spring. Then, in the summer when the ferns grow thick along the paths in the woods...lovely!

Oh those ferns are so beautiful. The thickness of those in the forest are outstanding. I have one boston fern in my back yard, but need to plant some more.

I've just been watching a program on PBS and discovered that ferns are fractals. Since I didn't know what a fractal was an hour ago I guess I've learned something. Amazing since it is in the world of mathematics. But I still like them fractals or not.

Very nice scenery!
I love ferns too. And I have two of them growing next to the well in the shade and they seem to be pleased to live there!
