Bridges Everywhere

I usually don't talk on this blog but the title needs a little explanation. I participated in a bridge challenge on my other blog all last week and didn't even manage to post a fraction of the bridges that are on the greenway trails near where I live. This is yet another bridge on yet another path and I thought I'd post it on this blog.

SkyWatch Friday: Mountains to Sea in NC

If anyone is interested in learning more about the mountain to sea trail you can read about it at the FMTS Site. This project was started in the 1970s and there are still portions that aren't completed but eventually it will be possible to hike from one end of my state to the other. I took the mountain and coastal sky shots during vacations. The falls reservoir is only 10 or so miles from my house.

You can find other Sky Watch Participants at the SkyWatch Home.

Wordless Wednesday: Empty or rather Roomy Nester

This is for the Tuesday Edition of Wordless Wednesday. I will also do another WW post on Wednesday which will actually be wordless.

I'm pretty sure the brown thrashers are who occupied the nest to the right because they were zipping out of the bushes from spring until recently. When I was sure it was safe to get into the bushes for minor pruning I encountered the empty nest. The full nest on the left was my daughter in the guest room before leaving for Law School in 2007. Her room was so full of boxes that she spilled over into the guest room. I read on a blog that empty nester sounded sad, some time ago. After that I thought, well, in a way roomy nester works just as well because when our chickadees leave the nest, it does create extra space.
