Driving
to the beaches on the North Carolina coast, from where I live in the
central part of NC, the highways cut through rural areas.
I
live in the triangle area of NC which is very developed so it's nice to
see parts of the state which are still relatively rural.
Since I wasn't the driver I clicked all along the way.
The next shot has a fighter plane on a stand outside the entrance to a military base.
The road shots are a mix of ones I took on the way to the beach as well as on the way home.
The overcast sky was on the way there and the blue sky with clouds were on the way home.
The rest of the shots were taken at Atlantic Beach, NC.
I posted a lot of shots from this short vacation last week but still have many to choose from.
It's still so hot that the shots I'm taking at home are pretty limited as I don't feel like walking in the heat.
Although it was also hot at the beach there were nice sea breezes.
The water temperature was good which is always nice.
Even wading in to get my feet and knees wet cooled me off.
I can't believe how many shots I took of the sky on this trip.
I had a long skywatch post and still have a ton I haven't used. The shot below is of my two sisters.
Even without any storms while I was there, we had a variety of clouds to look at.
The ocean was a vivid blue too.
The white in the breakers and the blue ocean mimic the white clouds and blue sky.
The two people in the shot below are Bill and our adult child.
It amazed me how close the willets got to people.
I was probably a mile or more away from the pier when I shot it standing on the porch at the cottage.
The gull alternated between walking along the shore and flying out for a spot of fishing.
The last shot is one I took after dropping a family member off at the airport.
