ABC Wednesday: J is for Jasmine

ABC Wednesday: J is for japonica

I am going to start with some spring shots of Pieris japonica.

I like the papery look of these flowers which show up in March where I live in NC.

The rest of the shots were taken this Monday and the light part where the flowers were in spring will turn a bronze color soon.

The rest of the shots are of another type of bush in front of my house and this one is Cleyera japonica.

I have three of these bushes and so far just a single cluster of leaves have their fall colors.

Quite a few of the berries are bursting forth.

ABC Wednesday: J is for Jars

I just can't seem to get rid of my surplus of jars.

Jars are jostling around in my cabinets.

I even have jars jockeying for a position on top of my cabinets.

ABC Wednesday: J is for Jump

The dancers jumped on stage at the Greek Festival this weekend. Photographers jumped up to take pictures. At least one of the dancers had the shade of yellow which is called jonquil on her costume.

ABC Wednesday: J is for Jonquil

Jonquil is a tone of the color yellow and is also used as a name for narcissus (daffodil is another name for some narcissus).

Jumping jilly there sure are a lot of jonquils in my part of the world this time of year.

The center of the narcissus below is the jonquil color.

ABC Wednesday: J is for Jay

The photograph below is of a blue JAY eating its fill on my deck wall last winter.

Several years ago, we went to an environmental educational event at blue JAY point.

If you are interested in learning more about Blue Jay Point County Park, you can join them at their website by clicking here. The park includes a playground and since it was winter some of the children were jumping up and down to stay warm.

We took the Blue Jay Point trail down to falls lake and I thought the seagulls looked like tiny jewels glistening on the sandbar.

There are a number of trails at Blue Jay Point County Park but the one I'm including is named Blue Jay Point trail.
