The Weekend in Black and White: Mix of Building Materials

I like the way the Orvis Store building is constructed with a variety of building materials.

I thought the different textures were well suited for black and white.

I think I like the first shot the best but decided to include the two others.

SkyWatch Friday: Cloud Watching

I don't think I'll ever tire of watching clouds.

Part of what I like about clouds is they continually change.

I can watch them move across the sky or turn my head for another angle on the clouds.

We've also had a variety of blues which is such a nice backdrop for clouds.

I have said it a thousand times but I do love the cotton batting style clouds so much.

I'm also glad we haven't had quite so much continual rain.

I'd rather have too much rain than too little but we've had plenty of rain.

The good thing about having plenty of rain is how healthy the plants are.

When I saw this truck last week, I thought to myself: that would be perfect for T week. I like it best in black and white.

Our World Tuesday: Shopping

I hate shopping but I decided to take advantage of the Cold Water Creek Memorial Day Weekend sale.

I would have preferred to shop at their online store but I needed to try on the clothes I required.

Their store is in the mall portion of the Triangle Town Center but after shopping I walked around and photographed the miscellaneous stores that are outside of the mall.

The shopping center isn't far from me but it's relatively new and I'm not in the habit of going their (actually it opened over 10 years ago but that's new for me). Also, they didn't complete the shopping center until more recently (perhaps 5 years ago).

I have to laugh at their advertising which boasts they have North Carolina's only Saks Fifth Avenue store.

In my book once the store is in Raleigh, NC they should take Fifth Avenue off their name.

To me a mall is a mall but the part I photographed (called the commons) is fairly appealing to me.

I think they did a great job with the landscaping.

They also had some stores that looked intriguing, although I didn't go inside them.

I almost never go into a store unless it's totally unavoidable.

I guess I've made it pretty clear how much I hate to shop.

 

Many of the shots I'm using are centered around the Himalayan Frontier shop, the play with your food restaurant, and the Orvis Store. They captured my attention the most.

It was a cool morning but turned into a beautiful day so I wouldn't be surprised if weary shoppers ended up taking a break on these outdoor chairs.

SkyWatch Friday: Blue showing up

I'm going to focus on a few days when blue made an appearance.

I love to look at clouds against a blue backdrop.

It's also nice to have some vibrant green.

The clouds change so fast as they are moving across the sky.

There is so much to see in the sky.

There's something very delicate to me about the wispy cloud above.

I love to see the moon while there is still daylight.

We even got some cotton ball clouds this week.

The sunset was golden.

I like the way clouds add to a sunset.

One more cotton ball sky.

The Weekend in Black and White: Ivy climbing up the window

I was struck by how I could see the ivy through the closed blinds in one of the bedrooms in my house.

SkyWatch Friday: Blue Skies

I've been enjoying some blue in the sky recently.

I like the contrast between the clouds and the brilliant blue.

We're also adding more and more green this time of the year.

The mockingbird on a wire was fun to watch.

This mockingbird seemed to be surveying the city from its wire perch.

I love to see trees around office buildings.

   

I always photograph this house by the office parking lot.

This is a long skywatch post but as often happens I had trouble picking shots.

Usually when I'm busy posts are long because it takes longer to be selective.

Cotton ball clouds are always my favorite.

I like the quilted look in the sky.

Also pleasant to have the greenery from the tree.
