After a mother's day brunch on Sunday Bill and I went to Lassiter Mill Park.
There used to be a working mill here but for some time now it has been a park and residential area.
It's nice hearing the water rushing fast over the falls.
This park is near where I live but since there are so many parks near me I haven't been to this one recently.
I am lucky to live in an area with an abundance of parks.
I caught a bluebird bathing on my deck a few days ago.
The cardinals are frequent visitors to my deck.
The rufous-sided towhee was feasting in my mullberry tree.
I took the rest of the shots at the Optimist Park trail this week.
The trail that starts at the Optimist Park goes through a wooded area until it hits the street.
Across the street from where this trail ends the trail leading to Shelley Lake and another park begins.
I live in walking distance of the Optimist Park and tend to walk there and at Shelley Lake the most. There are trails starting at the Shelley Dam that go all the way to the Lassiter Mill Falls in the first shots, although you have to cross a street to the next trail. The total greenway trail system in my city has 68.5 miles of trails. I think the first time I wrote about this system years ago it was more like 27 miles or so. To walk from the optimist trail and end at the Lassiter Falls would be about 8 miles although driving on the streets would only be about 3 miles. Since the trails tend to wander along creeks they are circuitous.
The next shot of the fence around the baseball diamond is for perspective on the last two shots.
I spotted the American Robin at the top part of the baseball fence.
There were also a lot of tennis balls wedged into the fence for reasons which elude me.

I like the way the shape of the cover over the year round swimming pool looked against the sky.
When the sky is totally overcast the spring colors turn it green.
I do so love the cotton batting style clouds.

Quickly I looked through my archives for quartets and quintets in nature.
Quiet mornings find mixed quintets like the 2 male and 2 female mallards plus one Canadian Goose above. Below a mallard quartet made up of three males and one female.
Next a quintet of all Canadian Geese.
Ending with another quiet morning and a quartet of Canadian Geese.
