SkyWatch Friday: Independence Day

July Fourth is Independence Day in the United States.

In my neck of the woods, nature provided fireworks in the form of thunder, lightening and torrential rains for the fourth of July.

I decided to go back several months to spring shots for the colors of the American Flag.

My house is naturally decked out with red, white and blue during the spring.

Flowers provide the red and white with the sky providing the blue.

These flowers have long faded but nice to remember spring. Click for the home of SkyWatch Friday.

ABC Wednesday: Y is for Yellow

Yellow flowers are very cheerful looking.

I'm glad I was able to enjoy my yellow rudbeckia (black-eyed susan) early in the season this year.

All of this shots were taken a few weeks ago.

Unfortunately with our excessive heat of late, most of these yellow flowers have turned brown.

The yellow sun causes a lot of damage when it burns too hot.

Our World Tuesday: downtown Durham NC

Many of the older buildings in what used to be the Durham NC warehouse district are now office buildings.

It's nice to see old building reused in a different way as opposed to being abandoned.

The shot below is one I took in a nook of an inside stairwell.

The photograph below which is inside a former tobacco warehouse renovated for offices shows what part of the downtown area looked like a long time ago. The cars are a clue it's not a recent photograph.

I often photograph the house below which is next to an office building and is used as an office itself.

It was already hot last week when I briefly wandered in the downtown Durham, NC park and garden shown below.
ourworgDSCN3387
I wanted to photograph the garden while it was still lush and green because the extreme heat wave will no doubt turn many of the plants brown soon.

Starting on Friday we have been breaking record highs left and right.

You see a lot of Bulls in downtown Durham in honor of the Durham Bulls baseball team. The bull below is a bike rack.

The last shot is in honor of July 4 which is the U.S. Independence Day and I chose it for the red white and blue colors (not just on the flag).
