SkyWatch Friday: Last week of November and First Week of December

Since I skipped last week's Sky Watch, this week will cover the last week of November and the first week of December.

We've had a lot of gray skies but I picked shots from the days with more color.

The last few oak leaves are clinging to the tree.

I like bare branches against a blue sky or any sky for that matter.

After the leaves drop the little balls (for want of their real name) are left for awhile.

I caught a mackerel sky at sunset.
skywatchDSCN6371
I love the quilted look of the sky below.
skywatchDSCN6360
I feel like I can reach up and grab this kind of sky and curl up in it.
skywatchDSCN6357
We have been having some great clouds in the sky.
skywatchDSCN6339
We've had some windy days but I don't mind when the sun is out.
skywatchDSCN6226
There are cobblestone side roads where Cobblestone Hall resides but I didn't include them in the shot below.

The next shot is of the NC Legislative Building.
skywatchDSCN6147
I like pastel skies but the colors were so subtle below that the photograph isn't as pretty as what I saw.
 skywatchDSCN6053
There is something about the quality of light this time of the year that I like.
skywatchDSCN6043
I haven't caught a night moon lately but I have been catching the moon in the morning before it goes down.
skywatchDSCN5911
There is something moody about the sky below.

The shot below was taken during a late afternoon.

The last shot was taken close to sunset.

ABC Wednesday: U is for Up

I had lunch at the Daily Planet Cafe in Raleigh, NC and kept thinking if I looked up I would see Superman take off.
abcwedupDSCN6248
After lunch, my friend held up the planet.
abcwedupDSCN6141
If you look up near the top of the next shot and spot the white streak you may be asking: Is it a bird, Is it a plane or is it Superman. I vote for superman.

Our World Tuesday: Downtown Raleigh NC

A friend came for a visit this weekend and we went downtown for a walk.
ourworldDSCN6134
I was surprised how many trees had leaves in downtown Raleigh.
ourworldDSCN6135
In North Raleigh where I live most of the leaves dropped this week.
ourworldDSCN6145
The shots above and below are of the Natural Science Museum.
ourworldDSCN6148
I took the next shot from the Capitol Square showing the Vietnam War Memorial and Christ Church across the street.
ourworldDSCN6155
The red building below is the old Briggs Hardware store and it now holds an art gallery.
ourworldDSCN6163
The shot below is of the Federal Building and the taller building is a corner of the Wake County Courthouse.
ourworldDSCN6165
There's a small outdoor ice skating rink.
ourworldDSCN6170
Too early for me to think about Christmas.
ourworldDSCN6172
I like the mural below on a building in Moore Square.
ourworldDSCN6177
Sometimes a storm will hit my side of town and skip another part of the town which may be why the wind blew the leaves off my trees but not downtown yet.
ourworldDSCN6188
Raleigh's nickname is the city of oaks and we take our acorns seriously.
ourworldDSCN6191
Below is the Children's Museum.
ourworldDSCN6202
On another side of the museum is the statue of Mohandas K. Gandhi with the title you must be the change you wish to see in the world. Good choice for a children's museum.
ourworldDSCN6207
I wouldn't choose pink trim but I think the house below is attractive.
ourworldDSCN6209
I spotted a guard on the balcony of a downtown apartment.
ourworldDSCN6213
The next two shots are of the Governor's Mansion.
ourworldDSCN6221
I think it looks like a big gingerbread house.
ourworldDSCN6227
Below you can see the outside of the planet earth model which is part of the Science Nature Research Museum and has rooms inside of the enormous planet model.
ourworldDSCN6239
The continents are from satellite imagery.
