SkyWatch Friday: Here comes the storm

I usually try and pick one shot for skywatch but this week I thought I'd show the storm moving in over the Atlantic Ocean on the NC coast, Saturday night.

Shot One - Taken at 18:06:27

The first thing I noticed was how excited the birds were getting.

Shot Two - Taken at 18:07:08

Then the clouds started pushing all the blue out of the way.

Shot Three - Taken at 18:11:51

Next I spotted this pig, bear, or maybe a dog in the sky.

Shot Four - Taken at 18:14: 27
skywatch d sky IMG_2268

The black sky started pushing in from the sound side towards the ocean.

Shot Five - Taken at 18:27:45

It was beginning to rain so I got under the porch roof so my camera wouldn't get wet.

Shot Six - Taken at 18:33:23

The last shot was taken when the rain was so hard it was blowing towards the porch and I had to be quick because I was getting wet. I don't mind getting wet myself but I don't want my camera to get wet.

Shot Seven: Taken at 18:33:36

heheheh,

I wiped my computer screen, because there was a flake of dirt. When it refused to go, I realise it was you flying bird.

Great photos.

It's amazing to watch those fronts move through over the beach isn't it? The definition seems to be so much sharper when there's nothing interrupting the airflow. I got a similar series at Topsail last year about this time. Great job here Carver!

Wonderful sequence, Carver. When I see photos like this, I wish I still lived near the ocean. Storms can be frightening but beautiful.

that first shot is incredible. it's my favorite. it got dark quick from the time the storm rolled in to the time of the rain. great shots. and, i don't blame you not wanting to get your camera wet. i don't like mine to get wet either. have a great day.

Marvelous captures, - what a spectacular sky. Especially enjoyed the pictures of the agitated birds - they are great sign posters of what is to come.

The two birds look like they are holding to each other. And your capture with the storm is fantastic. Even if I am only seeing it here it seem like scary ^_^
Happy weekend!
