Almost all of the leaves have since fallen from the trees.
Friday morning I walked at Shelley Lake and the Great Blue Heron was kissing his reflection.
He caught a fish and I caught it in his mouth.
This was the first time I caught a shot of the heron with a fish in its mouth. I took a bunch of pictures with its mouth full but none were particularly good.
I enjoy the bare limbs on the trees.
We are definitely heading into winter.
There are so many evergreens around the lake that they provide year round color.
One more shot of the great blue heron.
This is a rather long post but I took so many pictures on my walks it's hard to choose.
We had a very beautiful Thanksgiving weekend although it got colder and colder each day.
We had such a mild winter last winter that I'm ready for the cold.
The ducks still hang out where people used to feed them before the signs went up to stop feeding the ducks and geese.
In spite of the signs I still see people on the bridge that ignore the signs and feed the wildlife but not as many as used to.
What bothers me is when people feed them during warm seasons as opposed to in the winter when they need more help.
There were a pair of downy woodpeckers in the trees on the trail.
The pair of mallards below were in the creek that feeds into the lake.
I caught a bunch of reflections on my walk.
Sunday morning I rushed out into the frigid air for a look at Jack Frost paintings.
I was glad I wasn't going anywhere so I didn't have to scrape the windshields.

love that blue sky! Nice action shots of the heron and his snag, too!
Genius shot of the heron with the fish. and I loved the entire collection in this post.
What a beautiful series Carver..love the heron..they are so fast with those fish, they are hard to catch with the camera..
Welcome to Carver!
I love your photos Sunday.
This joy and happiness watching the blue sky and the approaching autumn.
I send a lot of greetings.
I can see why you couldn’t choose. All the reflections remind me of impressionistic paintings and the frost is a work of art, too. It seems to suggest it will be getting quite chilly soon!
Looks like winter is on your doorstep. I think that is the biggest fish I have ever seen a heron catch. Good one, Carver!!
What a lovely series of shots. The light in the first shot on those bare branches is magical.
Wonderful shots from nature. Love the variety.
What a wonderful collection of captures, Carver! I agree with Ladyfi regarding the light and bare branches in your first shot! How fun to catch the heron with his mouth full!!! Hope you have a lovely week!
Amazing captures, Carver!
Love them all but... I really love the pictures with the heron... ;))
Warm greetings, Anna
Great pictures but I think my favourite is the heron apparently kissing his reflection.
I really enjoyed this post, especially the heron and the woodpecker. From Findlay

Isn't the change of seasons exciting? You have captured it so very well, from the last coloured leaves to the ice on the windscreen. Great shots of the heron and fish. You've really come a long way since you started to notice the difference between a duck and a goose.
Beautiful captures! You captured the changing of the seasons in one post :)
Wow! Great series. Fantastic pics.
