The Hudson River is 315 miles long flowing north to south through eastern New York State, U.S.
The river was named after Henry Hudson an Englishman who explored it in 1609.
The river begins at Henderson Lake in Newcomb, NY and finally empties into Upper New York Bay.
The Hudson River serves as a boundary between the states of New York and New Jersey at its mouth before emptying into the Upper New York Bay.
The river was polluted by PCBs (amongst other things) which were not banned in the U.S. until 1977.
The Seeger's Clearwater foundation which began in 1966 brought national attention to the pollution in the Hudson and helped force a clean-up of PCB contamination.
Some of my early memories of being aware of water pollution came from Pete Seeger's music and activism.
Water pollution is such an important and ongoing issue all over the world.

Clean water is so incredibly important to the survival of mankind you would think we would move heaven and earth to keep it from being contaminated. I think as the history of the Hudson River shows and as Mayo Angelou says … when you know better, you do better.

Reading about the Hudson river makes me think of the plane landing caused by geese.We are in a debate whether the airport authorites should cull swams. They quoted yr Hundson river incident.
