Last week I used shots for SkyWatch Friday that I took when I was in Manhattan.
This week I decided to look through all the sky shots I've taken so far in June at home and work.
In a way I was surprised by how many sky shots I've taken this month.
We've continued to have a lot of rain and gray days.
But we've also had partial clearing and a few sunny days each week.
I feel like a broken record because this pattern has been going on for several years.
I recently heard on the radio that all of North Carolina has had above average rainfall and none of the state is currently in a drought.
In terms of the entire state I know parts of the state have had droughts in recent years.
In terms of the triangle area of NC where I live, I think it's been almost 4 years since we've had a drought.
Hard to believe because the last severe drought we had went on for a couple of years and I didn't think it would ever end.
That prolonged drought is part of the reason I don't mind rainy days even though lately we've had more than our share of rain.
The sunset pictures that follow were a surprise.
We had a downpour and I'd shut my blinds for the night.
I hadn't realized the rain had stopped but I noticed that my blinds were changing colors.
I was glad I raised my blinds and caught this dramatic sunset.
I've had that happen before. I'll think it will keep raining and be gray but I'll catch a burst of color hitting the blinds and I raise them.
Some of my favorite sunsets are ones I almost miss because I've pulled down the blinds during an afternoon rainstorm.
I love the way the clouds can paint the sky.
I guess the plus side of sky watching when there is a lot of rain is usually once it clears there are interesting clouds.
Sometimes the interesting clouds will be against a blue sky before the sky turns dark and a storm moves in.
Whatever way it works out I do love cloud formations of all kinds.
It's probably because I like variety and clouds often offer an endless array of variety.
