I knew I was going to use one of the shadow shots I took on a recent walk.
The difficulty was that I took around 40 shadow shots.
In a way I wish there hadn't been evergreens mixed with the deciduous trees because what I wanted was to have clean horizontal and vertical lines.
Since I didn't have one perfect shot, I went with four moderately successful ones. Click for the home of the weekend in black and white.

Reminded me instantly of a book called "A walk in the Woods" (Bill Bryson". You might have made the cover.
Beautiful composition.
The second and the fourth for me, with the second just having the edge. Great series Carver.
They look pretty close to perfect to me.
Beautiful black and white photos with shadows too!
