November 10 through 21, 2015 in my neck of the woods

I don't think the farmers market sellers were as amused as I was by the bird helping themselves.

We'll be having a hard freeze Sunday and Monday night so I don't think there will be much local produce from here on out.

There are still some colorful leaves but they will be gone soon.

00DSCN0576

I'm making a point of photographing the lingering flowers.

00DSCN0591

We've had a very rare November snow (many years ago) where I got to shoot flowers in the snow.

00DSCN0602

I think our average first frost date is in late October where I live (central NC).

00DSCN0606

This year I think we may have had light frost but most nights haven't gone down to freezing yet.

I'm enjoying the cooler weather and am glad that it's seasonal.

00DSCN0628

I like changes in nature and am glad that we have four seasons although some days the weather gets mixed up.

As the saying goes, if you don't like the weather stick around a few minutes and it will change (or something like that).

I wasn't sure if I was going to stay silent with both written words and photographs ending on this space.

00DSCN0675

I may pop back occasionally with a few shots from my photographic journey.

00DSCN0676

I was feeling stale for awhile and I was also without a camera for a number of months.

00DSCN0682

I have a new camera and am enjoying it.

00DSCN0704

I commute to work now all the time instead of working from home which has definitely changed some of my habits.

00DSCN0737

Adding the driving time to my day has been an adjustment.

00DSCN0741

In certain regards though I think it has been good for me.

00DSCN0743

I had become something of a hermit.

00DSCN0745

Now I don't have that option.

00DSCN0757

I love water and reflections.

00DSCN0764

My neighbor's car is a perfect match for her maple tree this time of the year.

00DSCN0788

The fall leaves are staggeringly beautiful.

00DSCN0792

I have enjoyed being able to photograph my backyard birds.

00DSCN0806

That's one thing I miss about not working from home.

00DSCN0807

I used to be able to take work breaks to photograph the birds during the day.

00DSCN0814

Now I mostly get to shoot them on weekends.

I doubt I'll post again before Thanksgiving so Happy Thanksgiving ahead!

So glad you're back! Love the pictures and the way you can say so much in a few perfect words. Going to work does take you out of that hermit mode by necessity. I missed that interaction when I retired, but can't imagine how I would have ever found time to blog back then. . I'll be delighted if you can find time to do a post like this one every week or so ... A visual treat and just so good to know you're there! Quite a few other bloggers I like have cut back on the number of times they post, by the way. Me too.

The red leaves and red cardinals are especially cheerful for me today... It's kind of grayish here.

Hello Carver...so happy to see you back. You were missed. Great to have a new camera. Being out with nature will help take the sting out of your drive to work...Michelle

Welcome back, Carver! Your pictures are as “staggeringly” (as you say) beautiful as the scenes you are photographing with your new camera. You are clearly getting amazing results. :)
