SkyWatch Friday: SkyWatching at the beach

I didn't participate in SkyWatch Friday last week because I was at Atlantic Beach, NC and didn't take or want to use a computer.
skywatccDSCN3926
I fear this will be an extremely long post because the conditions were perfect for skywatching.
skywatfDSCN3962
The shots I'm using are from three different days.
skyawctDSCN4047
There was a chance of thunderstorms every day but none materialized.
skywatbcDSCN4045
Since it wasn't a long trip and from the look of the grasses, plants and trees there had been sufficient rain this summer, I was glad we didn't have rain although I also enjoy storms at the beach.
skywatbcDSCN4049
One good thing about a chance of rain is there was an abundance of beautiful clouds.
skywatbcDSCN4081
I think clouds are very beautiful to watch form and change.
skywatclbDSCN4216
Much of the time the ocean was a very vivid blue.
skywatfbDSCN4165
There was a great variety amongst the different clouds.
skywatfbDSCN4196
There were also a lot of birds to add variety to the sky.
skywatfbDSCN4206b
Since I picked so many shots to use I fear I'll run out of things to say.
skywatfDSCN3965
There were several small fishing boats just past the breaking waves.
skywatfDSCN4006
I love watching sea oats waving against the sky.
skywatfDSCN4030
The beach wasn't crowded which I always like.
skywatfDSCN4031
I think the wispy cloud looks like a dancer with long legs.
skywatfDSCN4146
I like the mix of darker and lighter clouds.
skywatffbDSCN4156
I guess I could skip words in between the photos but I like to break the shots up a little.
skywatfsDSCN4032
When I started my other blog, which was my first one, I used photographs as breathing spaces in between the words.
skywatfvbDSCN4151
Now that both of my blogs are primarily photographs, I use the words as breathing spaces in between the photos.
skywatfvbDSCN4155
The gull was flying with a kite.
skywatkbDSCN4209
At first I thought the kite made it harder to shoot the birds.
skywatssDSCN4241
However, after my brother in law mentioned the kite could be an opportunity, I started trying to get shots of the birds flying with the kite.
skywatssDSCN4246
I love to shoot sunsets at the beach.
skywatssDSCN4261
Although the sun set on the other side of the cottage, on the sound side, the clouds gained some color at sunset.
skywatssDSCN4271
I upload my photos to flickr and add the image address to the post as I compose it.
skywclDSCN4077
I keep thinking I must be nearing the end of the photos I uploaded for skywatch.
skywatbrDSCN4331
However, each time I click the button for the next shot another one I picked for skywatch comes up.
skywatcDSCN4296
I think this must be the most shots I've ever put in a post.
skywatclDSCN4287
It takes more time to pick fewer shots because I have to spend more time figuring out the ones I think are the best.
skywatclDSCN4300
It's quicker to pick a whole big bunch of shots which seems counter intuitive.
skywclDSCN4290
The part that takes more time with a big bunch of shots is thinking of something to say in between.
skywclDSCN4302
Thank goodness, I finally made it to the last shot because I'm getting tongue tied, or is it finger tied.

The sky’s the limit with these shots, Carver, and I don’t know where to begin! The last one looks like a gapping mouth in the cloud and I like the seagull and kite … that is very rare … and the wispy dancing cloud. Suffice it to say you were on cloud nine during this holiday taking so many interesting sky views. :)

So many interesting clouds, the puffy ones, the wispy ones, the dancing ones and the bird and kite is really interesting. Looks like a beautiful place.

Now that's a beautiful place to do skywatching and waterwatching! I love all of these. You did indeed hit the jackpot!

Thanks to everyone for visiting and to answer the question, yes we do swim there. When I took a lot of the shots though the undertow was pretty strong and there weren't as many people swimming. Also it's not crowded at the cottage part of the beach so it looks empty. Up towards the hotels it's more crowded.

What a lovely series of beach and cloud photos! You must have had a glorious week! I think my favourite shot is the one with the sea oats, although a couple of the sunset captures rival it!!
