ABC Wednesday: C is for Culvert

Part of a trail near my house as well as part of the road was undergoing construction until recently.

After they finished I realized they were putting in a new culvert which I photographed in the first shot. The second shot is of another culvert.

When I was five, I was at a zoo and started following the culverts. My parents thought I was lost. *I* knew where I was!

A sort of before... and after (albeit different culverts!).

Great "C" word (I have to admit I did not know what they were called). I love learning new words and never disappoint me!

Have a great week.

This is a word that's not used very often. I think you posted a first for ABC Wednesday.
Nice pictures too.

Good vocabulary lesson for your class today! I'd forgotten that's what those things are called. And interesting pictures.

Great choice of word! We have lots of Culverts around here for both water flow and as wildlife pathways as in "Coyotes love clear culverts!"

They look like a place hobbit-like creatures would live!

Great photos, Carver. I could almost smell the somewhat dank air near the culvers. My dad was an engineer, so I knew the difference between a culvert and a sluice (the huge piped version). But when one person mentioned "The C Word," I had to laugh about some of the pictures you MIGHT have taken. Yeah, I'm the wicked pastor's wife, what can I say? Peace, Amy

Great pictures to look at, they are so realistic they generate that little bit of gut felt fear when I think about going into one...
