Our World Tuesday: There and Here

I had to work in Durham, NC, U.S. several times last week.

The first shot is of the bell tower of a Church I frequently photograph when stuck at a stop light on the way to the office.

The water tower above is visible from both of the parking lots I use depending on which of the offices I'm going to.

The reflection in the Brodie-Duke Building window above is of the BC Building both of which are owned by the company I work for.

The shot above is of the Brodie-Duke building. Measurement, Inc. bought a number of buildings in the former warehouse district and renovated them to be used as offices.

The shot above and the rest of the shots are from walks in my neighborhood in Raleigh, NC, U.S.

I've been walking every day for the past 12 days although some days have been too wet and cold for me to deal with my camera.

The shot above is of the Optimist Park Pool which is covered up in the winter for year round swimming.
ourworldDSCN9148
The Optimist Park is a few blocks from my house and my daughter and I used to walk there to swim when she was growing up.

The Optimist Trail leads to the Shelley Lake trail.
ourworldDSCN9195
On a few days last week the creek that runs beside the Optimist trail, and feeds into the creek that feeds into the Shelley Lake creek, was partially frozen.
ourworldDSCN9197
We haven't had any snow yet this winter but one day when I was walking it started snowing for about 10 minutes.
ourworldDSCN9244
If I hadn't been walking I would have completely missed the fact that we had a miniscule amount of snow.
ourworldDSCN9337
I hope we get at least one decent snow this winter.
ourworldDSCN9454
Last winter it didn't snow until February.
ourworldDSCN9580
When I walk to the Optimist Park and trail I always looks to see what new fanciful items have been added to the house below.
ourworldDSCN9606
It reminds me of a fairy tale house in some ways. They are gradually replacing the siding and brick with mixed materials.
ourworldDSCN9613
The last two shots are from a walk at Shelley Lake on Sunday.

The gulls and cormorants were fishing in the same part of the lake.

It looks like a very pretty area - I would have guessed it was warmer until I saw the ice.

What lovely shots of the area! And bright blue skies. Looks almost spring-like.

I like the reflections in the post - both the ones in the windows and the ones in the water.

I love the name Optimistic Park and all the creativity in and around it. Although you are miles from where I live many of the scenes seem similar as in my neck of the woods. We, too, have had little or almost no snow in the Southwest Coast but sometimes it does snow in February … right after optimistic folks plant new bulbs because it feels so much like spring.
